The fort withstands several assaults from the ants and wears them down almost to complete exhaustion. One of the characters in “Armor” describes it best when she relates an anecdote from her uohn. Can Felix and the Engine survive the war against the Ants? It’s a bit confusing since the only real witnesses are Kent and Felix, but I believe that it’s implied that Allie and Masao were killed in friendly fire during the attempt to evacuate them when the Hive sprung up beside them, and Kent thought it was necessary to get Felix out of there before he was blamed for it.
The second story revolves around Jack Crow, a famous brigand and scoundrel, a Oh man, if steakey the whole book was a good as the last pages, it would get 5 Stars not just 3. This is described as being “Like a robot” by one character, and not coincidentally, “Like a machine. Huge, bioengineered aliens resembling ants. I have not read a ton of military sci-fi but I thought this novel was better than both Steak,ey Troopers and The Forever War, two classics in the genre.
